Née en 1994 dans les Hauts de France, Viviane Sagnier se forme dans un premier temps aux lettres classiques et à l’histoire de l’art avant de se tourner vers le faire, avec un DMA Textiles. Elle vit et travaille à Clermont-Ferrand, et centre sa pratique sur la représentation plastique de l’émotion à travers un travail de sculpture, d’installations immersives et praticables, et de performance.
C’est le geste qui a conduit Viviane Sagnier à son travail plastique : celui, réflexe et renouvelé jusqu’à l’épuisement, d’enrouler du fil autour d’une âme textile. Cette démarche processuelle la conduit à former des œuvres composées de modules qui sont autant de signes d’une grammaire, déclinée à toutes les échelles, de l’œuvre murale de petit format à l’installation immersive.
Ce geste, qui confine à l’obsession, interroge également les états modifiés de conscience, puisque l’artiste se plonge dans des états d’auto-hypnose par la répétition d’une même action à l’infini. A l’autre bout du spectre, le regardant, en ayant accès à l’œuvre par le corps, est invité à s'en servir comme d’un espace d’introspection propre à chacun.

Born in 1994 in the North of France, Viviane Sagnier studied classical literature, art history and finally turned to making, with a Diplôme des Métiers d'Arts Textiles, specialising in embroidery, which she obtained in 2018.
She moved to Paris as a plastic artist and began reflecting about plastic representation of emotion.
Her work revolves around space, with immersive and practicable installations, as well as performance.
Since June 2023, she has worked within the group workshop Flemme, at Montreuil (Seine-Saint-Denis). She teaches at the same time textile techniques and art history at the Ecole Conte at La Défense (Haut-de-Seine).
She is part of Season 5 of the Cercle de l'Art.
Exhibitions / price :
In Autumn 2019, she took part in Cultura Diffuse, a collective exhibition at Miniartextil in Como (Italy).
From January to March 2020, she exhibited “Capillitium, ii, n” installation in the context of the É.E.S group exhibition, hosted by the EHRIA Association at the La Commanderie Art Center, Elancourt (Yvelines).
In February 2020, the personal exhibition “Emotions électives” takes place at Galerie Art Rencontre, Eaubonne (Val d’Oise).
In September 2020, she entered a creative residency for a year at La Commanderie art centre (Elancourt, Yvelines). This time revolves around the conception and production of the “Alterspection” installation, a total and immersive space. She also acted as a mediator for a wide variety of audiences: middle school classes, 8-12 years old, adults…
In 2020, she was finally the laureate of the “State of Emergency” award, by RN13Bis.
In July 2021, she co-animated a week-long workshop with Agathe Pfauwadel, choreographer, to encourage young teenagers to collectively develop and present a performance supported by plastic production.
From January to March 2022, she exhibited “Alterspection” as part of the restitution of her residency at La Commanderie (Elancourt, Yvelines). She offered a dance performance to activate the exhibition on the occasion of its finissage, in collaboration with Benjamin Macke for the sound design and with Youmi Bazoge for the choreography.
From September to October 2022, she presented medium-formats within the collective exhibition “La crème de la krème” at the Usine Utopik art centre at Tessy-Bocage (Manche).
From October to November 2023, she took part in the collective exhibition Energie, which showed works selected for the Créartothèque collection (annual library of works for the city’s young audience) at Evry (Essonne).
In December 2023, she presented “Relier”, an installation-performance in duo with the dancer and choreographer Youmi Bazoge, at the Atelier Flamme at Montreuil (Seine-Saint-Denis).
From 5 to 7 July 2024, she exhibited “Du ciel elle me regarde”, an immersive in-situ installation in homage to her mother deceased in 2021, within the modern church of Saint-Pierre-Le Viger (Seine-Maritime).
